How WhatsApp pricing works in 2026
- ✓Meta charges per delivered message, only for messages your business sends. Customers messaging you is free.
- ✓Replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are "service" messages. Since October 1, 2026, each number gets 1,000 free a month, then each is charged.
- ✓Template messages (marketing, utility and authentication) can be sent at any time and are charged per message by category.
- ✓Messages in the 7 days after someone contacts you from a Click to WhatsApp ad are free.
- ✓Meta bills the payment method on your WhatsApp Business account directly. Some providers add their own markup on top.

How much does the WhatsApp Business API cost per message?
It depends on the message type and the customer’s country. From Meta’s rate card effective October 1, 2026, for example: in the US and Canada a service reply or utility message costs $0.0034 and a marketing message $0.025; in the UK $0.022 and $0.0635; in Nigeria $0.0067 and $0.0516; in India $0.0014 and $0.0118.
Are WhatsApp customer service replies free?
Partly. Since October 1, 2026, each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month. Beyond that, service messages are charged at the market’s service rate.
Who pays for WhatsApp API messages?
Meta bills the WhatsApp Business account that sends them, using the payment method added in WhatsApp Manager. Some providers pay Meta for you and add a markup to their own bill instead.
Do I pay for messages customers send me?
No. Meta only charges for messages your business sends.
How accurate is this calculator?
It uses Meta’s published list rates but leaves out volume discounts, free messages after Click to WhatsApp ads, taxes and any provider markup, so treat it as an estimate.
